Flash photography is my mainstay: In the studio, in the field, hummingbirds, science, insects, humans. Understanding how to use flash in just about any situation gives a photographer a huge advantage in realizing his/her vision for an image. Flash can be the sole source of illumination, or it can be mixed with ambient light for a more supplemental approach. I tend to use manual flash in most situations (so I have complete control) however TTL technology is becoming so good that relying on it can produce sensational results. But first you have to understand it, and you’re in the right place….
